Introduction

Verses 9-21 continue the theme Paul is addressing in this chapter. He now speaks about our: Thinking About the Brethren. These verses are filled with challenges for Christians to live together as a God-honoring family before the Lord and the world. These verses, if they are regarded and applied, would revolutionize the average Christian’s life. There are three basic thoughts in view here as we think about Unhypocritical Love – The Outcome of Our Self-Surrender to God.: What our actions, attitudes, and affections toward other Christians should be.

 I.  Our Actions

What Our Actions Toward Other Christians Should Be: Romans 12:9-15

A.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Love without hypocrisy (v.9a, “Let love be without hypocrisy”)

B.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Be devoted in brother love (v.10a, “Be kindly affectionate to one another”)

C.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Give preference to others (v.10b, “giving preference to one another”)

D.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Be diligent in our serving (v.11a, “not lagging in diligence”)

E.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Contribute to the saints (v.13a, distributing to the needs of the saints”)

F.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Practice hospitality (v.13b, “given to hospitality”)

G.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-

  • Speak well of others (v.14, “Bless . . . and do not curse”)

H.  Actions that make us a pleasure to be around and/or be with-
