Sermon Series – HE’S MORE THAN WONDERFUL #19
“Jesus Christ – Our Resurrected Redeemer”
The tomb in which Jesus Christ the founder of the Christian faith was buried is located in Jerusalem – but His tomb is empty. Why, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is so important to our faith that without it there would be no Christianity at all. Without the resurrection, the Christian church would never have begun.
Our text today celebrates the greatest day in the history of the world. Today we celebrate the great truth that Jesus Christ, who was crucified on a Roman cross and died, arose from the dead just three days later! This one truth is what sets Christianity apart from every other system of belief in the world!
Today as we consider the passage we just read in John 20, we want to look at just some of the evidence for the resurrection. We are going to think about that empty tomb & how it may provide some important evidence for the resurrection. Let’s look together today at Jesus Christ: Our Resurrected Redeemer, where we’ll study about what exactly happened, according to just three of the first to see that empty tomb.
I. Mary’s Response About Our Resurrected Redeemer – Where have they taken His body: John 20:1-2; 11-18
II. Peter and John’s Response about Our Resurrected Redeemer – From Seeing to Believing: John 20:3-10
III. Our Response about Our Resurrected Redeemer – Skepticism or Belief: John 20:17-18
In the 6,000 plus years of recorded human history, the most important message that has ever been heard is this, “He is not here, for He is risen!”
Do you know this risen Savior today? Are you trusting Jesus for your soul’s salvation? As a Christian, it is obvious that you have come and seen, the question is, are you going and telling? What difference does the resurrection of Jesus make in your life on a daily basis? You’ve heard today that He lives, my question is, “Could you live your life just like it is if He didn’t?” Do you know Jesus this morning?
