Series Theme:  THE IDIOCY OF RACISM (Pt.2)

“The Essential Sources of Racist Attitudes”

Genesis 1:26-27; Galatians 6:3

Racism has no doubt been the scourge of humanity. It usually surfaces from generalized assumptions made about a particular race or cultural group. While it is wrong and unfair to assign particular negative characteristics to everyone within a racial group, it is done all the time. The bitter result of these racial attitudes is intolerance and discrimination.

Where does a person’s racist attitudes really come from? Four possible sources are: feelings of pride, feelings of inferiority, feelings of fear, and “Evolution” the BIG LIE.

I. Racism Is Generated by Our Pride:  Genesis 1:26-27; Galatians 6:3

II. Racism Is Generated by Our Inferiorities:  Psa. 139:13-16

III.  Racism Is Generated by Our Fears:

A. Racially charged words –

B. Humor at the expense of other –

C. Stereotypes –

PLEASE DON’T GO THERE!! – “Interracial Marriage” (2 Cor. 6:14-7:1)

IV.  Racism Is Generated by the Big Lie – EVOLUTION: Genesis 1:1, 26-27

CONCLUSION:  Our Worldview Affects Every Area of Life:

The creation and evolution worldviews stand in stark contradistinction in many ways:

  1. Creationism teaches that the Universe is the product of an Infinite, Eternal, Omnipotent Creator; evolution credits time and random chance processes for the Universe and everything in it.
  2. Creationism declares that God created a variety of life on Earth; evolution purports that all life evolved from a common ancestor.
  3. Creationism maintains that morality originated with God our Creator; atheistic evolution implies that morality is a human invention without a universal standard.
  4. Creationism maintains that all humans, regardless of shape, size, or color, descended from an original couple created specially by God; evolution teaches that some groups of humans are innately superior to others.
